Rev Abs Review

What is REVABS?
REVABS is one of the latest workouts by Beachbody, the makers of many fitness workouts such as P90X, Insanity, Turbo-jam, Hip Hop Abs and many others.

The REVABS trainer Brett Hoebel leads and coaches you through the workouts to get your abs into shape along with getting in a good cardio workout in the process.

The workout is in 2 phases, each being 45 days long. The workouts change around rotating 4 workouts around in the first 6 weeks and the next 5 workouts in the second 6 weeks.

The first part is to build your fitness foundation, and can be quite challenging though there is a modifier in each of the workouts incase you need to slow down or have problems with any of the moves.
The first set of workouts also include quite a bit of cardio, more then I thought it would, but that is also in the program in order to help burn the fat and get the best results.

You also do floor work in these workouts which is kind of “old school” thinking in some respects with the way a lot of new workouts are done, but you can definitely “feel” the abs working when doing the floor work.

The equipment you need for the workouts are water, a mat for some of them and some type of weights or resistance bands. The workouts target 6 angles of the abs to help you get the most out of the workouts.

Along with the workouts though, is also a nutrition program in order to help get the best results possible, since that’s a major part of the program. If you don’t eat right your body can’t burn food correctly, and on turn your results may not be what you plan to achieve. All Beachbody workouts include a nutrition program that enable you to get the best results possible with the particular workout that you are doing at the time.

Brett makes the workouts fun, and the workouts move at a good pace so you don’t spend more then 45 on any one workout. For the most part the workouts are 25-35 min. which helps make it easier getting in a workout even on a busy day.

The people he has working with him in the workouts also look like they’re enjoying the workouts and you can see when they are struggling at times also which in my opinion makes the workout more “real” and they’re not just going through the motions.
Also the workouts are broken down in to 3 rounds of exercises and on the third round you do what is referred to as the “spice round”. The Spice Round the moves that you were doing before are made a little more challenging in order to give you the best results and not just “cruise” through the last round.

Brett also has you say the “Rev anthem” which actually he uses to have you measure how hard you are working the exercises. You should not be able to get through the anthem in one breath after doing some of the more intense exercises, and if you do then you know you didn’t work the exercise hard enough.

Currently while writing this article I’m in the fourth week of phase 1 and the exercises are still challenging for me, which is fine, since it gives me something to strive for. A workout too easy gets boring fast and you don’t necessarily get the results you desire.

Overall I’m enjoy this workout and can see some results now and am looking forward to the final results.
